Courtney l. Schamel

Owner and Attorney

Courtney Lee Schamel (formerly Zamudio) is a native of Traverse City, Michigan.  She graduated from Northwestern Michigan College with an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement.  Upon graduation she was employed by the Leelanau County Sheriff's Department as a Sheriff's Deputy.  Courtney later went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology/Sociology.  After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Courtney went on to work for the State of Oklahoma's Office of Juvenile Affairs in Norman, Oklahoma.  Part of working at the Office of Juvenile Affairs meant spending time in the courtroom advocating on behalf of the juveniles on her caseload, in turn igniting her passion for the area of law and trial advocacy. Courtney left the Office of Juvenile Affairs to attend law school at Oklahoma City University School of Law where she graduated with a Juris Doctorate.

While in law school Courtney competed in the American College of Trial Lawyers' National Trial Competition, was a member of the Public Interest Law Group, Parents Attending Law School, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court.  She also served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and had the opportunity to intern at the United States Attorney's Office - Western District of Oklahoma and Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office, where she assisted with felony domestic violence cases.

Upon being admitted as a member of the Oklahoma Bar, Courtney worked in private practice until opening a law firm of her own.  Since being admitted, Courtney has continued her training by attending the Trial Advocacy Institute.  She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section, is a Wealth Counsel Member and provides pro bono services through Oklahoma Lawyers for Heroes.

Courtney is also a reservist in the United States Army; Courtney is a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corp where she is assigned to a trial defense unit providing legal services defending those who defend America.

When not practicing law, you'll find Courtney spending time with her two children, Adyson and Declan, her husband, and dog, Tucker. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, scuba diving, and watching college football!
